Role and Responsibilities


As a Hospital Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hospital by transporting patients, equipment, and supplies. Your responsibilities will include:


🔹 Assisting with patient transfers – Ensuring patients reach the right department safely and on time.

🔹 Preparing rooms for procedures – Setting up equipment and ensuring spaces are ready for use.

🔹 Supporting hospital departments – Delivering vital medical supplies and equipment.

🔹 Handling waste disposal – Managing clinical and non-clinical waste, including sensitive materials.

🔹 Transferring laboratory samples – Safely moving samples to the Biomedical Sciences labs.

🔹 Operating machinery – Handling pressurized gases and other specialist equipment (after training).

🔹 Providing compassionate support – Assisting patients and families, including in difficult situations such as morgue transfers or supporting those with severe injuries.

🔹 Maintaining hygiene standards – Keeping work areas clean and in line with NHS guidelines.

🔹 Following safety protocols – Adhering to Health & Safety, Manual Handling, and COSHH policies.

🔹 Wearing PPE as required – Ensuring personal and patient safety at all times.

This role requires resilience, empathy, and professionalism, as you may support distressed or grieving individuals.

Venue-Specific Information


Applicants must be 18+

✅ Candidates must be available for a 7-day rota with flexible hours

✅ Hours are not guaranteed weekly, but additional work may be available across our 119 venues in London

This role is not suitable for students on a 20-hour work visa, as it requires consistent year-round availability
