Kitchen Porter Profile

At the heart of our operation, our Kitchen porters are pivotal in contributing to the delivery of exceptional culinary experiences. We are looking for individuals who share our energy and passion and who embody a ‘can-do’ mindset.. Is this you?


The candidate must have been residing in the UK for the past three years and be willing to undergo a vetting process for the Metropolitan Police, which can take up to 4 to 8 weeks.


The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order in the kitchen. This role supports the kitchen staff by ensuring that all kitchen utensils, equipment, and work areas are kept clean and ready for use. The Kitchen Porter plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, adhering to hygiene standards, and assisting with basic food preparation tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:


Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Wash and sanitize dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
  • Ensure that kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment are clean and hygienic.
  • Empty trash bins regularly and dispose of waste properly.


Support to Kitchen Staff:

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling and chopping vegetables.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is stored properly and is in good working order.
  • Assist in unloading and storing deliveries of food, equipment, and supplies.


Health and Safety:

  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
  • Report any maintenance issues or hazards to the Kitchen Manager.


Organization:

  • Maintain organization of the storage areas, ensuring that all items are properly labeled and stored.
  • Refill kitchen supplies such as cleaning agents, towels, and protective gear.


Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment is an advantage but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.


Working Conditions:

  • The role involves standing for long periods, lifting heavy items, and working in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
  • Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Shift Pattern is between 0700-1600
