We are seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to help maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Whether you’re responsible for keeping hospital facilities spotless or assisting with patient transportation, you will play a crucial role in the healthcare team.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Cleaners
As a Cleaner, you will ensure a safe, hygienic environment by carrying out cleaning tasks throughout King’s College Hospital. Your responsibilities will include:
- Cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, bathrooms, public areas, and handling waste disposal according to protocols
- Ensuring cleanliness with the appropriate equipment and supplies, following hospital safety regulations
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workspace while operating cleaning machinery safely
- Adhering to NHS Staff Guidelines and hygiene protocols
- Assisting new team members by offering respectful coaching when needed
- Wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Hospital Porters
As a Hospital Porter, you will assist in the smooth operation of King’s College Hospital by transporting patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with patient transfers and preparing rooms for procedures
- Supporting various hospital departments with logistical tasks
- Remaining composed during sensitive and challenging duties, such as morgue transfers or moving patients with severe injuries
- Handling waste removal, including clinical and non-clinical waste of a sensitive nature
- Transferring laboratory samples from wards to the Biomedical Sciences laboratories
- After training, you may also work with pressurized gases
- Being polite, prompt, and friendly to all colleagues, patients, and guests
- Communicating with patients, guests, and colleagues to ensure smooth delivery
- Maintaining a clean workspace and complying with all health and safety regulations
Ward Host
As a ward host(ess) you will assist in supporting patients' activities of daily living from a catering point of view by taking their food choices at set times of the day, delivering meals, removal of all waste, and all other tasks, as required. Your responsibilities will include:
- Replenishing patients’ water jugs three times a day to ensure good hydration
- Providing patients with hot and cold beverages throughout the day
- Collating patients’ menu choices
- Preparing patients’ trays for meal service
- Serving patients meals at designated times
- Delivering snacks to appropriate patients
- Washing up of all patients’ crockery
- Disposing of waste appropriately
- Maintain a high standard of hygiene at all times

- Confidence when meeting and interacting with people
- Excellent teamwork skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Self-assured when working independently
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
- Comfortable standing and walking during the majority of your shift, with frequent manual handling tasks
- For some roles, 12-hour shifts may be required
Important:

- This role requires flexibility, as you may need to work across all 7 days of the week.

Presentation & Hygiene:
We uphold a high standard of personal presentation and hygiene to maintain a professional image. Team members are expected to have excellent personal hygiene, wear minimal and natural-looking makeup, and keep jewellery simple and discreet. Facial piercings and visible body modifications (such as facial tattoos or other prominent body art) should not be visible while on duty.
